Were you born here or did you move here?

I moved here from Baton Rouge almost eight years ago so that my commute to work would be shorter. Also, my wife and I wanted to take advantage of Ascension Parish’s outstanding public school system.

What were your first impressions of the area?

Honestly, I was a little reluctant about my move because Prairieville was somewhat rural. Because I had been living in Baton Rouge, I was accustomed to the conveniences of having numerous places to shop and eat in out but the worries of not having those things were short-lived. This area was growing so fast that I knew it was a matter of time before we would enjoy those conveniences again.

What do you do for a living? What do you do for fun?

I am the Outside Plant Engineering Supervisor for EATEL. For fun, I enjoy playing golf and playing ping-pong with my family.

What do you like most about living here?

I like the strong sense of community and the exemplary support for our public schools from both the residents and local businesses.

What do you think makes this area so special?

Without question, what makes this area so special are the people. Kind and generous best describes our folks and all “outsiders” are treated like family.

How would you describe this area to someone who has never been here?

We have an abundance of beautiful, stately live oaks and numerous waterways where one can enjoy fishing and/or boating. We are conveniently located between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, so it’s a short drive to either of those locations. But best of all, the locals are extremely friendly and the local cuisine is deliciously spicy.

Tell us your favorite story about your life.

I was the first person on my dad’s side of the family to graduate from college. For the most part, I worked for and paid my way through school and after nine long years I finally graduated from LSU in May 1988. Without the initial financial support of my parents, the moral support of my wife, and my faith in God, I probably would’ve never accomplished this goal.
